Berlin: capital of a floral fashion and a picnic style

Fashion Week Berlin gathered together many fashion designers who showed their creations for next spring/summer 2009. As part of the end of the event, it was celebrated the Elle Fashion Star Award where model Claudia Schiffer  awarded Karl Lagerfeld.

The trends during this week were very original, i.e. the platform shoes by  Scherer Gonzales: super high heels decorated with a bottom made of plastic in an acuarium style since it contained flowers inside. On the other hand, there were proposals such as this picnic hat on the image.

Editor in chief of Elle magazine Germany, Sabine Nedelchev, said “Germany needs a fashion capital”. In fact, Karl Lagerfeld is writing a book on the subject since during the 1920s, German fashion influenced the world.

Other interesting detail of the event was that the organizers ignored the health standards applied to the models, because anorexic models cannot be shown in any kind of advertisement.

These standards establish that models must have a minimum BMI of 18.5, be European size 36 (Australian 8-10) and be older than 16 years old.
