One of the trends in make-up for autumn-winter 2008/2009 are navy smoky eyes. Smoky grey tones are perfect for a cold season and during the next winter they will be combined with blues and purples.

To achieve this kind of make-up, outline your eyes with black eyeliner in both the top and the bottom of each eye. Carefully, add a little bit of purple eye shadow using with a small brush over the eyelids, blurring the eye shadow up. After that, apply an iridescent blue in the center of the eyelids and mix it with the purple eye shadow towards the eye pleats. Finish by applying mascara. If you want to achieve a cat's look, expand the eye shadow to the sides of the eyes and up. Karl Lagerfeld chose this style for his models but the rest of the face looked natural.

On the other hand, the catwalks have shown other trends such as natural faces, and nude lips. The skin must look smooth and perfect. However, in other fashion shows, models opted for a very pale skin i.e. Giambattista and Hermès. When the lips were red garnet-colored, eyes looked washed out as proposed by Chloé and Donna Karan.

Apricot, light brown, rose or beige are perfect for foundations and they are applied in one or two tones lighter that the skin tone. The same is valid for the lips. Mascara is forbidden while the blush is just noticeable as proposed by Stella McCartney.
